‘Game of Thrones’ Aftershow to Launch With Bill Simmons

Theon Greyjoy and Sansa Stark Game

HBO will launch an aftershow for drama “Game of Thrones” this month in partnership with Bill Simmons’ website the Ringer. The show is the first to emerge from a deal the sportscaster and columnist signed last year with HBO.
“After the Thrones” will debut April 25, one day after the season 6 premiere of “Game of Thrones.” The series will be hosted by Andy Greenwald and Chris Ryan of Simmons’ new site the Ringer.
The aftershow will be available on digital services HBO Now and HBO Go, as well as through HBO On Demand. No linear telecasts for “After the Thrones” have yet been scheduled, but may be announced at a later date.
Greenwald and Ryan hosted the “Watch the Thrones” podcast for Simmons’ former site Grantland.
In July, two months after his acrimonious departure with ESPN, Simmons signed a production deal with HBO. That deal includes plans for Simmons to host a weekly sports talk show that would launch some time this year.
Simmons announced the upcoming launch of the Ringer in February. Much of the site’s staff previously worked with Simmons at ESPN-backed Grantland.
Simmons, Greenwald and Ryan will exec produce “After the Thrones” with BSMG President Eric Weinberger.
